Timeless Appeal

Natural and neutral ... that's the secret to the success of any major home remodel you may be contemplating. The chaos and stress involved in remodelling can be avoided if you stick to a neutral, classis style that will endure as trends come and go.

The specialists at Simply Bathrooms share six tips for designing a classic space that has timeless appeal and will stay in style for years to come. The advice offered here was successfully utilized by the owner of a beautifully styled home in Phezulu. Sticking to raw finishes to accentuate the earthy, natural feel, clever use was made of raw wood, concrete and thatch. Effort was also made to keep the space, stylish, with clean lines.

Keep tiles neutral
Replacing tile is not necessarily a big deal, but it often involves removing fixtures such as toilets and shower head and generates a lot of dust. While the range of beautifully coloured and patterned tiles are endless, the reality is that someday you are going to find it outdated and when that happens you'll want to rip it out and start again from scratch. Choosing a neutral tile is generally a much safer bet for longer style life

Incorporate natural stone
If you can work it into the budget, natural stone will give a quality level to your remodel that will make it feel elegant for years to come. If you find yourself a little short on budget, consider real stone for small space. Stone floors are great in a small bathroom, or consider a stone accent in the shower.

Splurge of fixtures
if you want to splurge, then invest a little more of your budget on fixtures. The better quality your fixtures, the longer they'll last. In this bathroom remodel the owner heeded the advice and opted for Meissen brand faucets which are clean, sophisticated and manufactured using state-of-the art technology. Not only do they bring modern functionality to the space, but also give it a premium look a feel.

Introduce trendy metals with (easily changed) hardware
In this bathroom remodel the owner introduced the Alvar Graphite series of the Meissen brand which complimented the theme with its stunning gun-metal colour and worked well with the colour pallet of the rest of the room.

Texture before colour
Here again the advice is to keep your basics neutral so they dont become outdated in years to come. Keeping things neutral does not mean that it has to be boring. Incorporate accents of texture with woods, glossy tiles, polished marble and a host of other exciting and stylish options.

Prioritize counter space
While wall-hanging or giant trough sinks look cool and edgy, the truth of the matter is that fir it to be functional and stand the test of time, a bathroom needs to have counter space.
